In a recent statement, the Attorney General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, responded to comments made by the Argentine Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, regarding the arrest of Argentinian citizen Nahuel Gallo.

Saab claimed that Gallo is involved in criminal proceedings due to evidence linking him to acts that threaten national security. The prosecutor emphasized that the case will be evaluated through due process, where the evidence presented will be compared with the defense’s arguments.

Saab highlighted that the media attention generated by the Argentine authorities concerning Gallo’s arrest is connected to investigations involving Bullrich in the command chain of a group of terrorists sent from Argentina.

The statement also questions Bullrich’s decision to allow Gallo’s trip without informing Venezuelan authorities, which, according to Saab, sets a worrying precedent in the region.

Additionally, a previous statement by the minister is referenced, announcing the deployment of gendarmes to Venezuela for purposes that could contravene international law.

Saab concluded by pointing out that the behavior of the Argentine government suggests a connection with what he describes as an aggression against Venezuela and announced that both Bullrich and Chancellor Gerardo Werthein will be considered persons of interest in the investigation.

The prosecutor made it clear that it is now up to the Venezuelan judicial system to evaluate all these elements in order to reach a verdict.
