If Washington wants to tackle the migration issue, it needs to go after the coyotes who engage in politics from the U.S., he said.
On Friday, Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello denounced that the Venezuelan far-right opposition is associated with human smuggling networks operating from the United States to transport migrants through the Darien jungle.

“If Washington wants to address or tackle the migration issue, it needs to go after the coyotes who engage in politics from the U.S.,” he said, noting that an ordinary person cannot simply head to the Panamanian jungle without first establishing contact with them.
“Without the coyotes, no one enters the Darien,” Cabello said, further explaining that Venezuelan conservatives have turned migrant trafficking into a transnational business.
“In collusion with international actors like Alvaro Uribe, Ivan Duque, and certain U.S. structures, the far right has created and protected criminal networks that act against the peace and stability of the Venezuelan people,” he stated.
More specifically, Cabello pointed to opponents such as Juan Guaido, Leopoldo Lopez, Carlos Vecchio, Julio Borges, Miguel Pizarro, and David Smolansky, accusing them of organizing human trafficking networks which, under the guise of humanitarian aid, exploit the migration crisis for profit at the expense of the most vulnerable people.
“The Federal Bureau of Investigation should know this if it were to objectively investigate the role these individuals play from Miami,” the Interior minister emphasized, urging Venezuelan mothers not to be manipulated by opposition politicians. “They are using your children as weapons of war, and it’s important for families to understand this,” Cabello stressed.
On Friday, he also reaffirmed that Venezuela has consistently promoted efforts toward peace and stability in Colombia. In this regard, he recalled that his country has acted as a mediator in negotiations for the release of individuals detained by Colombian guerrilla forces and far-right paramilitaries.
“Commander Hugo Chavez taught us the value of solidarity,” Cabello said, referring to the efforts currently being undertaken by President Nicolas Maduro to support Colombians fleeing violence in the Catatumbo region.
In recent weeks, in this Colombian region located in the department of Norte de Santander, clashes between dissidents from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the National Liberation Army (ELN) have left at least 60 dead and displaced around 36,000 people.
Recently, during the 2025 Bolivarian Shield military exercises, Cabello visited Zulia, a Venezuelan state bordering Colombia, where aid centers were set up to assist victims and those displaced by the conflicts between irregular armed groups.
The Interior Minister accused the Colombian right-wing and U.S. imperialism of not genuinely being interested in ending the armed conflict in Colombia, which has lasted more than 80 years and causes regional instability.
“This conflict affects us, Ecuador, Bolivia, and all of Latin America,” pointed out Cabello, who is also the Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).
