Migration is not a crime! Sanctions are!, the Russian Chapter of the Antifascist International stressed.
On Tuesday, human rights defenders from Egypt and Russia rejected discriminatory practices emanating from the governments of the United States and El Salvador against Venezuelan migrants.

U.S. Aggression Against Venezuelan Migrants Sparks International Solidarity
These expressions of solidarity were sparked by the application of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, which was used to deport Venezuelan migrants without due process and in violation of their human rights.
This law grants U.S. President Donald Trump broad powers to implement policies and actions as if the country were in a state of war. More specifically, the 1798 Act allows for the acceleration of mass deportations of migrants.
Regarding this matter, the Cairo Chapter of the Antifascist International expressed its strong opposition to the treatment of Venezuelan migrants and affirmed its support for any measures that the administration of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro may take to protect the rights of Venezuelans.
“The U.S. and El Salvador do not seek to promote human well-being but rather to violate the migrants’ human rights. Both countries seem to forget that people know the truth about this whole matter: the U.S. economic blockade against the Venezuelan people aims to undermine their right to exercise sovereignty over their territory and natural resources. For this reason, many Venezuelans have emigrated in search of work to improve their living conditions,” the Egyptian antifascists said.
“It is unfortunate that these two countries see Venezuelan citizens as if they were terrorists or foreign enemies, despite the fact that their migration and labor have contributed to the U.S. development. Moreover, it is shameful that the U.S. and El Salvador cooperate on an issue like this, which seems to ignore the suffering caused by fascism and imperialism to Latin American peoples,” they added.
Similarly, the Russian Chapter of the Antifascist International also expressed its outrage over the arbitrary detention, imprisonment, and other repressive practices that the Trump administration has been deploying against Venezuelans residing in the United States.
“Justified through xenophobic and dehumanizing rhetoric, these actions are a continuation of the policy of coercion and economic sanctions that have forced millions of Venezuelans to leave their homes in search of safety and opportunities… We condemn the use of prisons in third countries to arbitrarily detain migrants without any judicial or administrative process. This violates not only human dignity but also our peoples’ historical struggles for justice and equality.”
“We urge international organizations, especially the United Nations and its human rights mechanisms, to take action on this matter and condemn these violations. We call for independent investigations and for the protection and respect of the fundamental rights of all migrants, regardless of nationality,” the Russian activists stated.
“We call for solidarity from social movements, human rights organizations, and democratic governments worldwide to join our struggle. The defense of migrants’ rights is a common fight that transcends borders and demands our firmest response to injustice.”
“No more criminalization of migrants! Migration is not a crime! Sanctions are! Venezuela resists, and the peoples of the world stand with you!” the Russian Chapter of the Antifascist International emphasized.
