The National Assembly of Venezuela has taken a significant step in defending national sovereignty by holding the second discussion on the Simón Bolívar Liberator Bill, designed to counteract the sanctions imposed by the United States.
This bill, which seeks to establish severe penalties for those who promote blockades or sanctions against the country, is presented as a strong response to the recent approval of Law HR 825 by the United States Congress, which intensifies the coercive measures against Venezuela.
During the regular session, the parliamentarians rejected the designation of “Bolivar Law” that the US government attempted to assign to its legislation, arguing that their proposal is the true representation of the legacy of Simon Bolivar.
The law, which consists of 18 articles, includes measures such as political disqualification of up to double the maximum penalty and prison sentences of up to 30 years for those who support coercive actions against Venezuela
President Maduro emphasized that this law will provide the country with a robust legal framework to protect the right to peace and development.
He also openly criticized the political sectors that he believes seek to harm Venezuela, stating that there has never before been a group that sought to do harm to its own country
In this context, the legislators also approved an agreement repudiating the sanctions imposed by the United States on Nicaragua, demonstrating a unified regional position against coercive measures.
The Simon Bolivar Liberator Law is presented not only as a legal tool but also as a symbol of resistance to the imperialist aggression. With significant popular support, this legislation seeks to consolidate the institutional framework and reaffirm national sovereignty in times of crisis.
