Venezuelan President Calls for Respecting the Constitution

Polling stations in Venezuela began to close at 18:00 (local time) this Sunday.

The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, calls for respect for the Constitution in order to respect the electoral process.

“Venezuela is a country that has a Constitution and laws, and we are all obliged to respect them,” said the president after exercising his right to vote at the ‘Simón Rodríguez’ Ecological School in Caracas.

Maduro called on the 10 candidates and the 38 political parties to respect, enforce and publicly declare that they will respect the official bulletin of the agency in charge of organizing the elections, the National Electoral Council (CNE).

Likewise, he expressed his confidence that the election day would bring good results and encouraged the Venezuelan people to wait in peace for the official results of the CNE.

The Venezuelan president added, “I am a president of the people and I recognize and will recognize the electoral authority, the official bulletins and I will make them be respected”.

Maduro said that if re-elected for a third term for the period 2025–2031, his goal will be to unite the country, deepen the economic, social, cultural and political dialogue, as well as build a new consensus for the nation to have a solid plan for the future.

The polling stations in Venezuela began to close at 18:00 (local time) this Sunday. According to the Minister of National Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, the electoral day passed peacefully, with civility and tranquility, without major incidents.
