On Monday, the National Electoral Council (CNE) declared the Bolivarian leader as the president of Venezuela after he was re-elected with 51.2 percent of the votes recorded in the July 28 elections. In second place was the right-wing opponent Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia with 44.2 percent of the votes.
Through the writ of amparo, President Maduro is asking the Supreme Court to conduct an exhaustive review of the July 28 elections. During his speech, he declared his commitment to transparency and electoral justice.
Besides reaffirming his intention to fully collaborate with the Court, the Bolivarian leader reiterated his commitment to protecting Venezuela, calling the violent acts led by the Venezuelan right “the most criminal attack we have ever experienced.”
“I am asking the Court to rule on the attack against the electoral process and the attempted coup. Let the Court clarify everything that needs to be clarified… Venezuela has strong institutions,” he pointed out.
