Despite the rain, a crowd received the Bolivarian leader in Puerto La Cruz, where he urged strengthening unity in the face of the maneuvers of the Venezuelan far-right, which seeks to generate violence and unrest before the presidential elections scheduled for July 28.
“The people’s new liberating armies will take to the streets to protect the vote and social peace,” Maduro said, adding that the electoral victory of the Socialist forces will pay tribute to the memory of Commander Hugo Chavez, whose birth the Venezuelans will also remember on that date.
“I am certain that we will win by a broad margin. I see it in the streets, in the surveys, everywhere!” the Venezuelan president pointed out, stressing that the Chavista electoral victory will be possible thanks to the permanent popular mobilization.
As people chanted “They will not return! They will not return!,” Maduro recalled that the Venezuelan far-right asked the United States and its allies to impose sanctions against their own country.
The Bolivarian leader emphasized that the economic war executed through 930 unilateral sanctions has been the main cause of domestic economic problems such as shortages and inflation.
“I am filled with the energy of the homeland. I bring the people’s energy and blessings. I bring the wave of David against Goliath. Goliath will not be able to defeat us. I am David, I am the people, I am the revolutionary victory,” Maduro said.
In the Simon Bolivar municipality, the Venezuelan president stated that 350,000 young people graduating from high school are guaranteed university spots to study careers such as engineering, medicine, or law.
Besides recalling that the Bolivarian Revolution built 5 million houses, Maduro reaffirmed the commitment to build three million additional dwellings for the benefit of workers and to rehabilitate at least two million houses in humble neighborhoods.
Regarding international politics, the Bolivarian leader pointed out that Venezuela plays an important role in global energy balance. For this reason, he will protect oil in defense of the interests of the Venezuelan people, which are permanently threatened by the voracity of the empire and its transnationals.
