Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has vehemently denounced recent sanctions imposed by the United States government, which include a 25% tariff on commercial transactions involving Venezuelan oil.

In his address, President Maduro emphasized that Venezuela’s current battle is not being fought with weapons but in the economic arena, highlighting the importance of domestic production and internal development.

President Maduro argued that Venezuela possesses all necessary resources to prosper – including land, sunlight, water, and natural wealth – and reaffirmed his commitment to national sovereignty by declaring that “our Homeland will never be a colony.” This statement comes as Venezuela faces significant economic challenges while seeking ways to strengthen its economic independence.

President Maduro’s condemnation comes at a critical moment, coinciding with the arrival of a group of Venezuelan migrants returning from the U.S. via Honduras and the controversial deportation of more than 230 Venezuelans to El Salvador

These developments have intensified tensions between Venezuela and the United States, with Maduro characterizing the measures as “imperial announcements” that, in his view, confirm the need for complete economic independence.

The tariff measure, set to take effect on April 2, marks a new chapter in relations between the two countries, further complicating Venezuela’s already tense economic and political situation.
