These releases are part of 910 total pardons granted to Venezuelan citizens as a result of a review of cases involving those detained on that date.
The Venezuelan Attorney General’s Office stated that the judicial cases are connected to “the serious events that sought to provoke a civil war” following the elections. At the time, Vente Venezuela and other far-right organizations rejected the results of the July elections, through which President Nicolas Maduro was reelected for the 2025–2031 term.
In a public statement, the Venezuelan Attorney General’s Office reaffirmed its commitment to continue reviewing cases “in defense of peace, justice, and human rights.”
According to official figures, approximately 2,400 people were detained in the context of post-election protests, which also resulted in 28 deaths, including two military personnel.
