A Vente Venezuela activist attacked Inacio Da Costa, who was stabbed with the jagged edge of the bottle in the face, neck and head.

On Sunday, Attorney General Tarek William Saab appointed the 9th Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the criminal actions of Anthony Vega and Jhon Alvarez, who are members of the far-right organization Vente Venezuela, which supports presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez.

On the night of July 19, these Vente Venezuela activists assaulted legislator Inacio Da Costa, hitting him with a liquor bottle on the head and arms inside the campus of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV).

“On Friday, these individuals, along with others yet to be identified, assaulted lawmaker Da Costa in the UCV parking lot,” Prosecutor Saab said.

“During the attack, Vega, a former convict, shouted at his victim that he didn’t care about killing him, as he had just gotten out of jail,” he added.

The text reads, “Prosecutor’s Office will initiate an investigation against two members of Vente Venezuela for attacking the opposition legislator Inacio Da Costa at the Venezuelan Central University.” In the image the two attackers appear accompanying the presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez.

“Vega lunged at me, trying to stab me with the jagged edge of the bottle in my face, neck, and head while repeating that he wasn’t afraid to kill me. He managed to make three cuts on my arm and one on my back,” Da Costa narrated through social media.

“Many students intervened to defend us, and an unidentified person drew a firearm and, from a maroon Chevrolet Spark, pointed it at several students while the gang members ran to the car to flee due to the pressure from the students,” he added.

“Is this the country they want to build?” asked legislator Da Costa, who criticized the change that Edmundo Gonzalez and Maria Corina Machado advocate.

“I want a change for my country, without hatred or revenge. A change where we all fit in and where you don’t have to be singled out for thinking differently,” he said.
