Civil society organizations are ready to respond to far-right threats on the day of President Maduro’s inauguration.

On Tuesday, Venezuela’s Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello met with social organizations leading the defense of the people, and together they vowed to protect their homeland against the destabilizing actions of transnational far-right forces.

“I swear to work for peace and tranquility, in perfect popular, military, and police unity, in defense of our homeland, people, and the Bolivarian Revolution,” was the pledge repeated by members of the Venezuelan Revolutionary Force, just days before President Nicolas Maduro’s inauguration for the 2025–2031 term.

During the meeting, Cabello emphasized that citizens are not afraid to fight back if the Venezuelan conservatives and its mercenaries attempt any illegal acts on June 10, the day of the inauguration.

“They hate us. We do not hate them. However, we will not let them mess with us,” the Interior Minister stated, referring to the psychological warfare that the oligarchy is waging through social media to unsettle the population.

Cabello also denounced that U.S.-backed economic elites stigmatize the Venezuelan people and their community-based forms of organization and life.

“The bourgeoisie has no good plans for the people. They will go against you because they respect no one,” he stressed and recalled the Venezuelan history of resistance against oligarchic regimes.

“The governments used to call the first popular neighborhoods in Caracas ‘invasions’ and sent their forces to repress them,” Cabello said, mentioning the massacre against residents that occurred in February 1989. Known as “El Caracazo,” this social uprising was crushed by President Carlos Andres Perez, who suspended constitutional guarantees and was ultimately responsible for over 3,600 deaths.

The Interior Minister asserted that today’s Venezuelan right-wing is similar to the one that controlled the Fourth Republic from 1830 to 1999. “Our government advocates for peace and fights for peace. But let them know we are ready to defend the homeland,” he concluded.

The meeting was attended by citizen organizations such as Capitolio’s Warriors, Augusto Cesar Sandino Foundation, Resistance Organization, Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement, Liberator Organization, La Güayanita Socialist Foundation, Tres Raices Foundation, and Salvador Allende Organization.
