After certifying that the Court has the jurisdiction to resolve electoral conflicts, Judge Caryslia Rodriguez certified in an unrestricted and unequivocal manner the results of the elections presented by the National Electoral Council (CNE), the highest electoral authority in Venezuela.

She read the sentence accompanied by judges Fanny Marquez and Inocencio Figueroa, members of the Electoral Chamber. Based on the results obtained in the expert report, Rodriguez assured that the CNE results bulletins are consistent with the reports of the electoral machines.

After an in-depth examination of the results, the judges found that the CNE results bulletins are consistent with the reports from the electoral machines. Consequently, the Supreme Court ratified that President Nicolas Maduro was reelected as president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The Judge also recalled that, in accordance with the rule of law, the Supreme Court has the authority to examine the results of the elections and resolve any disputes in this regard. The participation of Supreme Courts in electoral disputes has also been seen in other experiences at the international level, such as those that occurred in the presidential elections in Mexico in 2024 and Brazil in 2023.

Rodriguez indicated that 33 out of 38 political organizations involved in the elections appeared at the hearings convened by the Electoral Chamber and submitted the electoral materials they had. She also mentioned that 9 out of 10 presidential candidates attended the hearings. Edmundo Gonzalez, the former candidate of the Democratic Unitary Platform, did not attend any hearing and was declared in contempt for not adhering to the constitutional order.

During the hearings at the Venezuelan Supreme Court, the representatives of the political parties that supported his presidential candidacy did not submit electoral material because they indicated they had not kept electoral records.

Rodriguez urged the CNE to publish the results of the 2024 presidential elections in the Electoral Gazette within 30 days following the proclamation of results. The Supreme Court president sent a copy of the sentence to Attorney General Tarek William Saab so that he can initiate criminal proceedings against Gonzalez and other individuals for alleged crimes related to impersonation of functions and incitement to provoke disorders.

Finally, Supreme Court president thanked the collaboration of the international observers and experts who participated in the appraisal of the presidential election.
