During the recent inauguration of the Casa de Abuelos (Grandparents’ Home) in La Candelaria parish, Caracas, Venezuela’s Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez launched scathing remarks against U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and opposition leader María Corina Machado, labeling them as “despicable beings.” Rodríguez accused them of orchestrating attacks against Venezuela, particularly targeting Venezuelan migrants abroad.

Rodríguez denounced what she called a “hate campaign” led by far-right factions to undermine the Bolivarian government and stigmatize Venezuelans overseas. She rejected accusations that migrants are linked to crime or groups like the Tren de Aragua, calling these claims part of a “strategy to tarnish Venezuela’s image.”

The vice president praised grandparents as key figures in Venezuela’s resistance, emphasizing their role in preserving the country’s historical memory despite “imperialist blockades and sanctions.” She urged younger generations to honor their legacy.

First Lady Cilia Flores Joins Criticism

First Lady Cilia Flores also condemned the treatment of Venezuelan migrants in the U.S., alleging many were “deceived and scammed.” She blamed U.S. sanctions for devastating families and accused opposition figures like Julio Borges of dehumanizing migrants by calling them “scum” for political gain.

Beyond inaugurating the senior center, the event reinforced the government’s stance on migration and external aggression, framing U.S. policies and opposition leaders as perpetuating “violence and disinformation” against Venezuela.
