Venezuelans Renew Their Anti-Imperialist Commitment on Independence Day

‘Our dignified and brave people will never retreat in the face of the darkness of colonial oppression’, President Maduro stated.
On July 5th, Venezuelans commemorate the 213th anniversary of the signing of the Act of Independence and the Day of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).

“213 years ago, a people rose up against the Spanish empire, planting the seed of freedom. These were the Republic’s first heartbeats, which we celebrate today with profound pride, and which we are willing to defend regardless of the threat’s size,” Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said.
“Our dignified and brave people will never retreat in the face of the darkness of colonial oppression. Long live Venezuela, a Bolivarian, independent, and sovereign nation!” he stressed.
“With infinite pride, I congratulate our glorious FANB on its day. You carry in your genes the heroism, courage, and indomitable spirit of the Liberators of America. You are an indomitable force and our homeland’s greatest protective shield. Long live our heroes and our heroines!,” the Bolivarian leader pointed out.
On Friday, citizens gathered at the National Pantheon to reaffirm that the Venezuelan people are rebellious, remain faithful to the patriotic legacy, and will overcome the siege of imperialism.
“Just as it happened 213 years ago, the Venezuelan people’s courage and bravery are more relevant than ever, facing the multidimensional attack of the world’s most powerful empire,” Security Minister Remigio Ceballos said during an event in front of the sarcophagus of the Liberator Simon Bolivar.
“Venezuela is a free, independent, and sovereign homeland. Bolivar, we are heirs of your glories and of the patriots who, along with you, forged a perpetual homeland,” he added, warning about the possible return of neocolonialism.
“From Washington and other places, coups d’état, interferences, and invasions are promoted throughout Latin America and the Caribbean to once again strip our peoples of their natural resources,” Ceballos explained, recalling that “the sun of Venezuela rises in the Essequibo.”
Later, in a ceremony held at the Federal Legislative Palace, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino-Lopez opened the chest containing the Act of Independence, accompanied by the national anthem performed by the Bolivarian Army’s Martial Band.
“July 5th is a special day for Bolivarian soldiers. Today we celebrate the Day of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces. It is a day of national identity and a firm reminder of the tireless commitment to fight for our absolute and comprehensive independence,” he said.
On Friday afternoon, Venezuelans will also participate in a grand patriotic parade at Paseo Los Próceres, which is located near Fort Tiuna in Caracas.
