During the regular session of Venezuela’s National Assembly (AN), its president, Jorge Rodríguez, declared Venezuela the safest country on the continent and highlighted the return of nearly one million nationals through the Plan Vuelta a la Patria (Return to the Homeland Plan), despite international sanctions and blockades.

Rodríguez emphasized that the recent repatriation of Venezuelan migrants on February 10 was carried out with dignity, without the use of military planes or handcuffs, unlike other cases worldwide. He noted that two Conviasa planes, despite sanctions, landed at a U.S. airbase under the banner of the Plan Vuelta a la Patria.

Rodríguez reiterated the Bolivarian Government’s commitment to protecting the rights of Venezuelans, stating, “We will not allow our migrants to be returned in handcuffs. Venezuelans have rights enshrined in the Constitution, and it is my duty as president of the AN to safeguard their human rights.”

Rodríguez called on the U.S. government to extradite far-right figures who have committed crimes in Venezuela, naming Juan Guaidó, Leopoldo López, Julio Borges, and Carlos Paparoni as individuals who allegedly misappropriated funds meant for the Venezuelan people.

“They deceived people into leaving the country, only to steal their money—money intended for education, children’s surgeries, and the nation’s development,” he said, accusing them of exploiting migration as a business.

Pedro Infante, the AN’s first vice president, praised President Nicolás Maduro’s efforts in facilitating the dignified return of 190 migrants and condemned the far-right’s exploitation of migration. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting migrants’ rights and ensuring their respectful treatment.

The session concluded with a strong call for national unity and sovereignty, underscoring the government’s dedication to justice, security, and the well-being of its citizens.
