On Wednesday, The Free Press reported that former marine Daniel Penny, who strangled Jordan Neely, a homeless man, to death in a NYC subway car in front of numerous passengers, has been hired by a Wall Street company. His hiring comes just two months after Penny was acquitted of murder charges.

The venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, based in Silicon Valley with an office in Manhattan, announced that it hired Penny for its New York department despite his lack of training or experience in the capital industry.

“I believe, as I know many of you do, that Daniel acted with courage in a tough situation. He was acquitted of all charges… It has always been our policy to evaluate the entire person and not judge them for the worst moment in their entire life,” said executive David Ulevitch.

“We believe in Daniel and are excited to have him as part of our team,” he added, mentioning that Penny will help strengthen the company’s relationships with the Department of Defense and the security sector.

For this reason, the former Marine has been assigned to a branch of the company specializing in “national interests,” Ulevitch mentioned.

The founders and executives of Andreessen Horowitz were among the Silicon Valley magnates who publicly supported Donald Trump in his last presidential campaign.

From the moment of the subway incident and throughout his trial, Penny was defended by U.S. conservative media, which justified the killing by arguing that the homeless man was a threat to public safety.
