The health organization in Gaza has warned that a true catastrophe is affecting hospitals, oxygen stations, medication storage refrigerators, and kindergartens in all remaining health facilities. This situation is exacerbated by ongoing Israeli attacks in the three regions of the enclave, as well as the complete blockade preventing humanitarian aid from entering.

According to the Gaza health ministry, there are no fuel reserves in hospitals “due to the restrictive policy imposed by the occupation on fuel imports” since October 2023.

In a statement, it was reported that the last shipment of fuel intended for hospitals was stolen on Monday morning. The organization denounced that occupying troops are aiding and protecting bandits and thieves to raid humanitarian convoys.

On the same day, a convoy clearly identified by the World Food Program (WFP) was attacked near the Wadi checkpoint.

The health authority reiterated its call to all national and international organizations for urgent intervention to provide necessary fuel so that hospital generators and health centers can operate properly.

The attacks have rendered much of Gaza’s hospital system non-functional; on Monday, an airstrike resulted in the deaths of two people when it targeted the home of the Al-Ubaid family near Ain Jalut towers, south of Al-Nuseirat.

Another airstrike on the home of the Sahweil family in Al-Shati camp resulted in four civilian deaths, while several others were injured after a bombing at a tent for displaced persons near Al-Maghazi.

The ministry’s denunciation comes amid a critical context for Gaza’s healthcare system, which has faced severe difficulties due to attacks. At the end of last year, Kamal Adwan Hospital, located near Jabalia camp, was raided and burned down, leaving one of the most important medical centers in northern Gaza out of service.

The hospital director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, was beaten and unjustly arrested by occupying forces. Since December 27, no clear information has been provided about his whereabouts; organizations such as Amnesty International and the World Health Organization have declared him missing.

In response to this critical situation, a large global campaign has been organized among unions and doctors demanding the immediate release of Dr. Abu Safiya, who has been recognized as a hero in the healthcare sector for his bravery and constant refusal to evacuate the hospital.
