What Are President Trump’s First Executive Orders About?

On Monday, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States, reaffirming in his speech some of the campaign promises that led him to power.

To make what he called the return of “the Golden Age of America” a reality, the Republican politician is preparing to sign a package of executive orders to accelerate the tide of change. According to media reports, these executive orders are expected to address issues such as the following:
• Ending access to asylum and birthright citizenship
• Declaring a national emergency at the border
• Restoring the “Remain in Mexico” policy
• Declaring migrant crossings along the U.S.-Mexico border a national emergency
• Unlocking federal funding for the construction of the border wall without requiring Congressional approval
• Ending the guarantee of citizenship for those born in the U.S. as stated in the 14th Amendment
• Designating drug cartels as “global terrorists”
• Recognizing only two genders, male and female, in public policy and official documents such as passports and visas
• Declaring a national energy emergency to increase oil production, especially in Alaska
• Repealing regulations that prevent domestic energy production
• Eliminating environmental justice programs across the government
• Reducing inflation
• Ordering the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico and Mount Denali in Alaska to honor “American greatness”
• Ordering the Attorney General to seek the death penalty for capital crimes committed by anyone illegally in the U.S.
• Establishing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)
• Ordering agencies to investigate trade deficits and unfair trade practices
• Giving ByteDance, the Chinese owner of TikTok, more time to make a sale and comply with a law that would otherwise ban the app in the United States.
