The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that Israel has blocked 53 out of 54 humanitarian missions aimed at assisting the population in northern Gaza during October. This statement was made by WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus during a press conference.
Tedros emphasized that only one mission was granted authorization, which occurred on October 12, allowing for the delivery of supplies and fuel to the Kamal Adwan Hospital after nine unsuccessful attempts.
“The rest were denied entry, canceled, or obstructed,” he informed.
He also condemned recent Israeli attacks on healthcare facilities in Gaza, highlighting the bombing of Al Aqsa Hospital in Deir al Balah, which has been targeted eight times since March.
“International humanitarian law requires that health infrastructure be protected in conflict situations,” Tedros stressed, urging Israel to facilitate humanitarian access to those in dire need.
