The Dutch broadcaster NOS has one-sided coverage of the situation involving the Palestinian people, they denounced.
On Tuesday, members of a faction of the environmental organization Extinction Rebellion known as “XR Justice Now!” staged a protest against genocide in Gaza outside the Dutch public broadcaster NOS in the municipality of Hilversum, Netherlands.

To protest against NOS’s one-sided coverage of the situation involving the Palestinian people, they chained themselves in front of the building’s main entrance, where they displayed banners demanding an end to “legitimizing genocide.”
Other XR Justice Now activists climbed onto the roof and placed banners with messages such as “NOS, stop legitimizing genocide” and “Language is not neutral.”
“We demand that NOS take journalistic responsibility and critically reflect on its bias… NOS legitimizes violence and genocide by adopting Israeli narratives without questioning them. This severely downplays the situation in Gaza, where at least 43,972 Palestinians have already died,” explained XR Justice Now.
The Dutch human rights defenders also aim to “highlight the systematic attacks on journalists by Israel, which should be considered war crimes.”
They further demand that the public broadcaster “fulfill its duty to provide impartial and truthful coverage,” warning that “the choice of words and camera framing directly influence how reality is understood and how people act in response to it.”
Police are present at the scene but have not intervened. A spokesperson for NOS stated that, for now, the protest is not affecting the broadcaster’s programming.
