In a significant development in the regional conflict, the Armed Forces of Yemen, under the command of the Houthi movement Ansarollah, have carried out a military operation that has captured international attention. Utilizing a drone and 16 ballistic and cruise missiles, the Houthis attacked a U.S. destroyer and three supply ships in the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea.

Military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Sari confirmed that the impacts were “accurate and direct,” underscoring the effectiveness of the operation.

This attack comes amid rising tensions in the region, where the Houthis have declared that their actions are a response to the “crimes of the Zionist enemy” in Gaza and to aggressions by the United States and the United Kingdom against Yemen. Sari emphasized that the operation aims to assist the Palestinian people and support resistance fighters.

Additionally, General Sari revealed that Yemen’s Armed Forces also conducted an attack with a hypersonic ballistic missile named “Palestine 2” against a vital target in Jaffa, in occupied Palestine. This attack is part of a broader campaign initiated by Ansarollah in November 2023, focused on targeting ships related to what they consider Zionist occupation in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.

The military escalation by Yemen reflects not only its commitment to the Palestinian cause but also a direct response to foreign interventions that have affected its sovereignty. The international community watches these developments with concern, as they could have significant repercussions for regional stability.

As conflicts intensify in Gaza and other areas of the Middle East, Yemen’s actions highlight how geopolitical dynamics continue to intertwine with local struggles for self-determination and justice. The situation remains volatile, and these military operations are likely to generate new tensions among the involved powers.
