Yemeni military forces have carried out a series of attacks on Israeli targets located in the occupied Palestinian territories, marking a significant increase in hostilities in the region.
During the early hours of Thursday, sirens sounded in Tel Aviv due to an airstrike launched from Yemen, according to reports from Israeli media.
Reports indicate that the Yemeni Armed Forces fired several short-range ballistic missiles toward the Israeli capital. The Qatari news agency Al Jazeera reported that loud explosions were heard in central occupied Palestine, affecting both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Witnesses shared images on social media showing the trajectory of the missiles over Israeli skies.
Iraqi media outlet Sabreen News cited Hebrew sources confirming that one of the missiles hit Ramat Ofal airbase, although the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth refuted this information, claiming that the missile was intercepted before entering Israeli airspace.
Meanwhile, Al Mayadeen reported that nearly one million Israelis sought refuge in bomb shelters due to the magnitude of the attack.
In response to these attacks, Israel launched a series of bombings on the Yemeni capital Sana’a and the port city of Hodeida, where multiple explosions were recorded. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that their aircraft targeted military objectives related to the Houthis, who have been accused by Israel of carrying out ongoing attacks against its territory.
This exchange of hostilities occurs within a broader context marked by the conflict between Israel and Palestine, where tensions have escalated significantly since October 7, 2023, with reports indicating over 45,000 Palestinian deaths as a result of the conflict. Yemeni military forces have also attacked vessels associated with Israel in the Red Sea, underscoring the regional scope of the conflict.
The situation remains tense and volatile, with significant implications for security and stability throughout the region.
