Russia does not rule out using hypersonic missile against decision-making centers in Kyiv.

On Thursday, President Vladimir Putin stated that his country’s armed forces might target decision-making centers in Kyiv with the Oreshnik hypersonic missile if Ukrainian attacks using long-range Western weapons against Russian territory continue.

“We do not rule out the use of the Oreshnik against military and defense industry facilities or decision-making centers in Kyiv, among other targets,” he said after participating in the summit of the military alliance Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

“You cannot hide in Kyiv,” was the message Putin sent to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to illustrate the power of Russia’s array of medium-range weapons. He also noted that Ukrainia continues attempting to attack critical Russian facilities, including those located in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

“We will respond to acts of aggression against Russia. The Defense Ministry will decide how, when, and with what weapons,” said the Kremlin chief, who emphasized that a “different instrument” must be used for each target.

Putin also stated that the emergence of the Oreshnik missile “has not changed anything” regarding his country’s stance on a negotiated resolution to the Ukrainian conflict, provided it occurs under the terms outlined in his speech to the Foreign Affairs Ministry leadership in June.

On that occasion, Putin demanded the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from territories that became part of Russia, including the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics and the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. He also called for Ukraine’s non-aligned status, its denazification and demilitarization, and the lifting of all Western sanctions against Russia.

On Thursday, Russian forces launched 90 missiles and 100 drones at 17 targets in Ukraine. As a result of this massive airstrike on energy infrastructure, more than one million Ukrainians have been left without electricity.
