According to reports by the Lebanese National News Agency, the Israeli aircraft attacked an off-road vehicle near the Imam Ali Mosque, causing a column of smoke in the area.
The attack came hours after Hizbollah launched rockets into the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights in response to recent Israeli attacks on the Bekaa region of Lebanon.
«The target is Khalil al-Maqdah… [is] a brigadier general in the Fatah movement and works in the military wing,» said his brother, Munir al-Maqdah, commander of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades.
«Murder makes us stronger. This martyrdom is a badge of honour and the resistance remains firm on the ground», added Munir al-Maqdah.
The Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades have been involved in fighting against Israeli forces in Gaza and are a key component of resistance in the West Bank.
Tensions between Israel and Lebanese and Palestinian armed groups have intensified in recent weeks, fueling fears of a further military escalation in the region.
