Prosecutors said Wednesday that they would not file criminal charges against Baltimore-area police officers involved in July's fatal shooting of a young Black mother Korryn Gaines.
A statement released by Gordon Law Group and the Law Office of Jimmy M. Bell said they are expected to meet with Baltimore County State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger today to “advise the family that he completed his monitoring of the police investigation into the killing of Korryn Gaines and will not be filing criminal charges against any of the officers involved,” WBAL-TV reported.

Korryn Gaines, a 23-year-old mother of two, was shot dead in August following a six-hour standoff with police outside her house. Her five-year-old son was also shot in the incident. Police said that Gaines failed to open the door to officers who had arrests warrants for her and another man who was living with Gaines.
After police entered her apartment, Gaines reportedly was holding her 5-year-old son with one arm while simultaneously wielding a a gun in an opposite, which police say was repeatedly pointed at officers. After hours of negotiations with Gaines, she was shot and killed by police.
Baltimore police requested that Facebook suspend Gaines’ social media accounts after they learned that she was live-streaming the standoff with police.
Her Facebook and Instagram accounts were subsequently censored. The hashtags #KorrynGaines and #SayHerName were used across social media in support of Gaines.
The NAACP Defense Fund demanded an independent review into Gaines' shooting, including the police response during the incident and the legality of her social media accounts being censored.
