An asylum seeker from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) fears he will be tortured if the United Kingdom deports him back to his home country.

Otis Bolamu, a Congolese national, worked for his government prior to seeking asylum in the southern city of Swansea.
the fears are also based on advice from friends who have told him he is an espionage suspect back at home causing him to be in great danger, the BBC reported.
The Congolese national has already been tortured at the hands of President Joseph Kabila’s regime for taking part in the opposition which is a reason to believe that if asylum is not granted his life could be put in danger.
The Home Office department which handles asylum claims has stated that all claims are based on “individual merits.”
The Hay, Brecon & Talgarth Sanctuary for Refugees is the organization handling Bolamu’s asylum petition. The solicitor in charge of processing the petition is allegedly on holiday and is not available to answer why the request has been denied, according to Brecon.
If things continue their trajectory, Otis Bolamu will be deported on Christmas day, one of the most important holidays observed in the United Kingdom.
Bolamu who had been volunteering at Oxfam for some time was captured during a raid conducted by Brittish law enforcement, Thursday.
People who support Bolamu’s petition are demanding his release, “Let’s get Otis home for Christmas. He is a fine, upstanding member of the community,” said the organizers.
