Sevencandidateswillstand in FIFA'spresidentialelection on Feb. 26 to replaceSeppBlatter, who is under criminal investigation.
The candidates — Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Musa Bility, Jerome Champagne, Gianni Infantino, Michel Platini, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and Tokyo Sexwale — include three from Europe, two from Africa and two from Asia.
Platini's candidature is pending because of his 90-day suspension from football by FIFA’s Ethics Committee in the wake of allegations made against them by a Swiss police investigation into corruption into the football governing body.
To the surprise of many, Trinidadian ex-footballer David Nakhid was not included on the list, despite saying he had submitted his candidacy.
Blatter, a Swiss national, announced he would be stepping down in June, with world football's governing body at the center of a corruption scandal, in which 14 officials, including seven senior officials, were arrested last May.
The massive corruption scandal, considered the worst in the FIFA history, followed a major inquiry by the FBI that found officials took bribes and kickbacks estimated at more than US$150 million over a 24-year period.
