This is the sixth consecutive Thursday that Belgian students have taken to the streets of Brussels to demand the government take action to counter climate change effects. According to Police authorities, the walkout gathered over 11,000 protesters in the Belgian capital, to demand a greener world.

"What is the use of studying the future tense of verbs if I am not going to have a future?" or "Study Hard, Protest Harder," were some of the slogans shown in banners and warcries during the protest. The high school students were joined by university students and other social sectors in the demonstration, to keep the pressure on the government to do more against climate change.
These demonstrations have been happening since the beginning of January, and this Thursday's march is the sixth consecutive one since two students from Amberes, Anuna De Wever and Kyra Gantois, called the first march on social media.
"What are you waiting for? Make things right!" Demanded the two young women of Belgian politicians a statement that has been supported in an open letter by more than 3,200 Belgian scientists and academics, and many others.
Among the claims, students are asking for the promotion of renewable energies, in order to lower the dependence on nuclear energy plants, as asserted Anton a student holding a banner against the amount of polluting gases produced by cars.
The first of the demonstrations was held on 10 January in Brussels and registered around 3,000 people, a figure that has been multiplied in the successive calls and has reached 12,500, 35,000 and 27,500, according to the Belgian Police.
