The Hague will move forward to review a lawsuit against Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, according to Gilberto Lozano, founder of the National Citizen Congress.

Peña Nieto is accused of being responsible for crimes against humanity and systematized corruption in the atrocities involving or committed in Tlatlaya, Apatzingan, Tanhuato, Ostula and Iguala regions.
"The office is analyzing the allegations identified, with the assistance of another related communication and other available information. The purpose of this analysis is to assess whether, on the basis of the information available, the alleged crimes are within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court and, therefore, justify the opening of a preliminary examination of the situation", a document shared by the activist on Twitter stated.
Lozano has confirmed notification by the Court of The Hague - after the agency had filed the complaint in December 2016 - that an investigation is being carried out to determine whether or not to bring a formal complaint against Peña Nieto.
Lozano’s lawsuit alleged crimes of corruption between the Mexican president and Grupo Higa for the cases of Higa, OHL and Odebrecht.
The Mexican government discarded a request for a review of the allegations brought by the citizen congress, prompting Lozano to present the suit to The Hague with 87,000 citizen signatures in hand.
"Today, December 6, the International Criminal Court of The Hague in Holland informs us: The complaint OTP.CR 348/17 against Enrique Peña Nieto presented by the National Citizens Congress has been approved and begins investigation,” Lozano detailed on Twitter.
The disappearance of the Ayotzinapa 43, in Iguala, is among the cases filed against the Mexican leader that the International Criminal Court will examine.
The purpose of the review is to assess whether, based on available information, the alleged crimes appear to be within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court and, therefore, justify the opening of a preliminary examination of the situation, the court's notification disclosed.

Peña Nieto could become the first former president of Mexico to be tried in The Hague, if the suit is greenlighted.
