Islamic State group militants have killed 200 Syrian children because they apparently refused to join their ranks, according to various news outlets.
A group opposed to the Islamic State group released a video that allegedly shows group members killing the youths, according to British news outlet Mirror.
The footage shows alleged Islamic State group fighters ordering the minors to lie face down on the ground, after which shots can be heard.
The Arab HourNews daily said the children were executed because they refused to enroll to fight with the Islamic State group.
Syrian authorities have not been able to verify the authenticity of the video.
According to the Daily News, the anti-Islamic State group organization based in Yemen posted the video on Monday, saying the footage was taken in August 2014, when the Islamic State group captured the Syrian Tabqa airbase from government forces.
"Allahu akbar! (God is great!)" one shooter is heard yelling amid the rat-tat-tat of machine gun fire, the Daily News added as the gunmen fired at point blank range.
