Target´s new policy gives transgender individuals the right to choose the washroom that corresponds to their gender identity.

Target has come out in support of transgender people through a statement it released recently.

“Inclusivity is a core belief at Target,” the statement reads. “We welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity.”

The fact that major retailers like Target have changed their policy is a testament to the ongoing transgender movement and its demands both in the U.S. and worldwide.

It also may make economic sense since companys are seeing the strength of the LGBTI community as witnessed by the massive boycott of North Carolina after its anti-Trans stance.

The internet was awash with an outpouring of transphobic comments, however.

People used the safety of women and children to drum up support for their anti-trans position.

Many people on Twitter and Facebook are calling for the boycott of Target.
