The “Grand National Pilgrimage for a Venezuela without Sanctions and in Peace” began this Sunday, April 19 from Zulia, Táchira and Amazonas, uniting various sectors of the country and demanding the end of U.S. sanctions against the country.
The launch of the “Grand National Pilgrimage for a Venezuela without Sanctions and in Peace” coincided with April 19, Venezuela’s Independence Day, a date symbolizing national sovereignty and resistance.
This initiative has garnered broad support, attracting diverse sectors including entrepreneurs, parliamentarians, workers, students and native communities.
Their collective participation underscores a unified front against the sanctions that systematically violate the fundamental rights of the Venezuelan people. Moreover, the extensive mobilization transmits a compelling message for the ongoing pursuit and establishment of peace, directly countering international narratives that erroneously depict the nation as engulfed in conflict.
The Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Cabello emphasized the urgent need to cease the “campaign of hate” targeting Venezuela, asserting that the path forward for the nation is through peace and national unity.
He declared that the disparaging comments directed at Acting President Rodríguez, which occurred during a concert in Madrid, transcend a personal attack, representing an aggression “against the Venezuelan people, against Venezuelan women.”
This forceful statement underscored the collective impact of such racist and politically motivated actions on the country’s social fabric. His address marked the beginning of a massive nationwide mobilization designed to express widespread rejection of the punitive economic measures imposed by imperialist powers.
Unity Against Sanctions
In his rallying call, Cabello urged for national cohesion, advocating for the abandonment of extreme political stances and a concerted effort towards the country’s reconstruction. He specifically highlighted the detrimental effects of the sanctions and blockade, which he unequivocally stated impede the well-being of the Venezuelan people.
These coercive measures, he explained, directly obstruct progress in crucial sectors such as health, education, housing, salaries, and social security, creating significant hardships for the people.
Furthermore, Cabello vehemently criticized certain nationals who “travel the world asking for sanctions, blockades and invasions against their own people.”
in this sense, he refuted the argument that these sanctions exclusively target leaders of the Bolivarian Revolution, asserting instead that they have profoundly “affected the quality of life of all Venezuelans, beyond any political affiliation” and demanded the immediate and unconditional lifting of these pressure measures, stressing their pervasive impact on everyday citizens.
“We raise our voice and demand no more blockade, no more sanctions against our country”, Cabello proclaimed to the thousands of Táchira residents participating in the powerful demonstration.
According to comprehensive data from the Geopolitical Sanctions Map, Venezuela currently endures a staggering total of 1,088 unilateral coercive measures. These imperialist-imposed sanctions are designed with clear objectives: to depress the living standards of the population, to destabilize the nation’s political and economic systems, to erroneously label the Bolivarian Government’s administration as a failure, and ultimately, to foster a climate conducive to foreign intervention.
The pilgrimage serves as a powerful testament to the Venezuelan people’s resilience and their unwavering determination to overcome these external aggressions and secure a future of peace and self-determination.
